July 2020 Sunday Schedule
Hear Ye! Hear Ye! – Worship & Bible Study for July 2020 What can you expect for worship and Bible study in July, as a member or friend of OSL? Why the changes? Can we expect any future changes?
TWO WORSHIP SERVICES PLUS TWO OVERFLOW SPACES:
We will have an 8am and 11:30am worship service (identical services), beginning July 5th, in the sanctuary along with two overflow spaces in the atrium and fellowship hall (to optimize social distancing). Communion will continue to be offered in all three places (sanctuary, atrium, and fellowship hall). This will allow us to keep social distance and to continue disinfecting between services. Masks and sanitizer will also be made available in the atrium on Sundays.
Why this change?
The chief reason for this change is twofold: 1) we believe we can do all we can to be safe with two services through the summer 2) and, we seek to provide all the same classes we offered, prior to the pandemic, via live ZOOM Bible studies at 9:45am. Bible study has been central to our OSL community, remains a blessing, and we believe it is time to resume these sooner than later, even if only by ZOOM at this point.
Can things change in the future and why would they?
The answer is, “Yes.” Things could change in the fall. What would lead to changes would be worship attendance, new information, and safety. If worship attendance grew to the point of no longer being able to insure safety, even with the overflow, then we will add a service at 9:45am but would also continue the live ZOOM Bible study hour at 9:45am. We would not trade one for the other.
We will continue to send the Sunday morning email with the link for livestream and recorded service.
Please pray for the staff and fellowship of OSL as we navigate these unprecedented times, but rejoice that God is still working new life in our community! Some things are way better than they were prior!
Wednesday Services to Resume July 8th In an effort to provide care and worship opportunities for the most at risk in our OSL community, we will resume Wednesday midday services on July 8th. For Wednesday services only, the following restrictions will be in place:
- Weekly sign-ups via sign-up genius – Sign-ups will go out in the Happenings email the Wednesday prior to service.
- Masks are required. We will provide some for those that need one.
- Designated seating – Please find a marked seat for you and your family. A sanitized Hymnal will be provided. Please take the hymnal home and bring it back each week.
- Shorter Service – 30-45 minutes
- Spoken liturgy & prayers (no singing)
- Gloves & masks will be worn during Communion (You are not required to take communion.)
Whether you have a medical condition that prevents you from attending the slightly larger, less restrictive services, or would just be more comfortable worshiping in a more restricted service, we welcome you to come to the Wednesday, midday services at noon starting on July 8th.
